A podcast and five apps

Better data always means better golf.

Feel lies. The golf ball is a big fat liar. So we built the honest version — a family of tools that tell you what your round actually said, what the tour data actually shows, and what to do about it on Saturday.

The Improve screen in Data Action Golf, ranking the round's biggest gap in strokes and building a practice plan from it.

The premise

Golfers spend fortunes rehearsing swings and zero minutes rehearsing decisions.

Honest numbers, kindly delivered

Never a bare number. Every stat gets a fraction, a comparison, or a "here's what that actually means." The tour average is the honest yardstick — and it's kinder than you think.

Sourced, or it doesn't ship

DataGolf, Slash Golf, the USGA Stimpmeter booklet, Penner, Pelz, Holmes, Broadie's ShotLink research. No invented statistics anywhere in the family — if a number changes, we find the source first.

Gaps, not leaks. Growth, not grades.

We grade the decision, never the luck. Stats exist to give you permission to commit — not to judge you for a Saturday.

The family

Five apps. One idea.

Each one takes a different piece of the game — your rounds, the pros, your strategy, your putting, and your nerve — and hands it back to you as something you can actually use.

01 · Data Action Golf

Your round, translated into your next practice session.

Most apps tell you what you shot. This one tells you where the strokes went, which gap is costing you the most, and exactly which drill closes it — then checks back in to see if it worked.

  • 01Gaps ranked by strokes lost, quantified — never "leaks"
  • 02Caddie pass: in-round nudges from your own miss patterns
  • 03Tee Reality — tee advice anchored to real pro approach distances
  • 04A 30-drill library and a session builder that targets your worst gap
  • 05Course memory, personal par, and a game plan that remembers

Free to use. Data Action Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks the guided practice and deeper insight layer. Your rounds stay on your device.

03 · Course IQ

A driving range for decisions.

You never swing a club in Course IQ. Every hole gives you two to four real options; the engine knows each one's true expected value from your dispersion cone and the hole's geometry. You read the hole and pick blind — then the reveal shows the odds each line really carried, and grades the decision, never the luck.

That gap is your growth area — and it trends as a score called your Course IQ. Illustrative figures.
  • The Daily Hole — one fresh hole a day, the same hole for everyone
  • Scenario drills: protect a lead, chase a number, play the pressure
  • Wind is a visible variable, never hidden randomness
  • Imports your real distances and miss pattern from Data Action Golf

04 · Putting IQ

The science behind why a putt moves the way it does — not just that it did.

An interactive physics lab with a green you can experiment on. Change the stimp. Add moisture. Turn the grain. Watch what actually happens, then earn a grade on your read — because the roll here is deterministic, so there's no luck to blame.

Every physics constant traces to a cited source — Penner (2002), the USGA Stimpmeter booklet, Pelz (2000), Holmes (1991). Seven short lessons in The Physics of Putting, plus graded drills and a certified course. Runs entirely on your phone: no network, no accounts.

05 · Tempest Golf

The storm is the pressure — and this is the only range where you can practice it.

Arcade golf with Mario Kart energy: you sprint after every shot while a visible storm wall chases you down the hole. Time your strike, manage stamina, spend a Stormgrip, and get to the ball before the weather gets to you. It's the third leg of the trilogy — Course IQ trains the decision, Putting IQ trains the physics, Tempest trains the nerve.

  • Daily Hazard event with a real reward loop and a countdown
  • Two venues — Tempest Ridge and Coastal Fury — across five difficulty tiers
  • Locker with gear, a trail caddy, and three upgrade tracks
  • A Pressure Profile that scores how you swing calm versus clutch

Built for iPhone and Android from a shared gameplay contract. Fully offline — no network required.

The podcast

185 episodes of asking the golf question nobody asks.

It launched as Data Axis Golf — and nobody knew what axis meant. Same show, same host, clearer name: Data Action Golf. A stat, a fraction, a comparison, and permission to relax about your own game. Then: let's tee it up.

The full 185-episode archive from the original run is up now. The show is coming back as Data Monday — a weekly look at how the winner actually won, and what it adds to our understanding of what matters most in golf.

The round itself — scorecard, hole-by-hole, and the story of the day, laid out to be looked at.

Courses

Routing art for the course you played, drawn from open map data and printed clean.

Custom
